Emily Mitchell supported by her mother Fran, Bronia Dachshunds, UK, state that Emmy’s patella problem occurred after her arrival and in the care of Devereaux’s Dachshunds and that the Champion Sire has never produced these abnormalities in ANY of his offspring. Emily claims "the Dam was recently evaluated and does not have this problem". Emily further states, the vet refused to check Navarra’s son who is 5 months old as her vet said, “… any animal under the age of 12 months old should not be checked for a problem such as luxating patellas as the test can do irreversible damage to a puppy so underdeveloped.”
Emily, further states that her vet, “… was
dumbfounded that any vet would consider carrying out the test with
the knowledge that it could potentially stretch or, in worst case,
tear the ligaments and tissue surrounding the patella.“
Sheila Fournier (Devereaux's Dachshund's) “Any reputable veterinarian upon noticing an obvious defect is going to do a thorough evaluation regardless of age or geographical location.”
